Lions International, is an international service organization established in 1917 in Chicago, Illinois, by Melvin Jones. The organization is currently headquartered in Oak Brook, Illinois. As of May 2023, it had over 49,541 local clubs and more than 1.4 million members (including the youth wing Leo) in more than 200 countries and geographic areas around the world. USD 52M + total donations and 17.14 M people served ytd in Lions Financial Year from 1st July to 30th June. Motto: We Serve. Slogan: Liberty, Intelligence, Our Nation’s Safety. Fellowship and Service. Our Global Causes- While each Lions club has its own service focus, there are five global causes of particular interest around the world. These are areas of need identified, and voted on, by members and supported by our association and foundation. Diabetes: Medical Diabetes Check-up Camps, Awareness Sessions (Online/Offline). Vision: Medical Eye Check-up Camps, Eye Glasses, Cataract Surgeries. Hunger: Donate Cooked meals or groceries. Environment: Plant Trees. Childhood Cancer: Collaborate with Hospitals.
Youth: Lions Quest, School, College Awards, Seminars, Blood donation camps, Scholarships, Job oriented course. Humanitarian: Refuge welfare. Disaster Relief: Flood, Earthquake releif etc.
Leo: “Leadership, Experience, Opportunity.” Under Parent Lions Club. Alpha: Age 12-18 years. Omega: Age 18-30 years.
